The successful introduction of the new technology of electromobility in trailers requires a convincing concept in terms of TCO cost savings and return on investment duration, service characteristics, robustness of the system and the expected ecological benefits such as CO2 reduction and noise reduction. The presentation will show how system integration, low-voltage technology and intelligent SW features have been used to develop a competitive drive concept, initially for energy
recuperation for refrigerated trailers. A road map for the following development steps up to the autonomous operation of trailer vehicles will be presented.
